The United States has granted parole to a former US Navy intelligence analyst convicted of spying for Israel.
Lawyers for Jonathan Pollard said the decision was made unanimously by the three members of the Parole Commission. He is scheduled to be released on November 21.
Pollard was arrested in November 1985 and was charged with conveying highly classified documents to Israeli agents. He pleaded guilty in 1987 and was sentenced to life in prison. The sixty-year-old Pollard has already served 30 years in prison.
His arrest sparked a crisis in Tel Aviv and Washington relations that only ended after Israel promised to end all espionage activities on US soil.
