Open letter to President Obama

I urge you to do what is right and order your administration to fully cooperate with the Senate Intelligence Committee to release the Torture Report this month.

(SAN FRANCISCO)  The following is a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama…

Dear Mr. President:
I urge you to expedite the release of the Senate Torture Report before the end of the year in a form not so heavily redacted as to make the report meaningless.  Once the Republicans take control of the Senate in January, the Torture Report will never see the light of day.   The Torture Report has been approved for public release, but your administration appears to be dragging its feet to prevent its release before the end of the year.

I can rightly assume that the $40 million investigation would result in a report to be made public to show the American people what was done in their name and to make sure such conduct never happens again. The public’s right to know overrides any possibility that release “might” lead to violence and death.  I believe these dire warnings of violence and death are exaggerated and mostly self-serving.  After all, the world already knows the United States engaged in torture, but not to what extent.  Remember Abu Ghraib?
I urge you to do what is right and order your administration to fully cooperate with the Senate Intelligence Committee to release the Torture Report this month.

I urge you to write to President Obama too.
