Two-State Solution Delusion
Total U.S. aid to Israel is approximately one-third of the American foreign-aid budget, even though Israel comprises just .001% of the world’s population and already has one of the world’s higher per capita incomes.

(SAN FRANCISCO) A fantasy persists of a Israeli-Palestine peace agreement leading to an independent Palestine state in the land Israel has occupied since the 1967 Mideast War. It must be clear by now to anyone paying attention that Israel has no intention of engaging in meaningful peace negotiations that would result in an independent Palestinian state. Rather, Israel is slowly squeezing the Palestinians where the ultimate goal is to take over the entire country by erecting a wall or fence, which cuts deep into Palestinian territory, joining large Jewish settlement blocks to Israel, further confining the Palestinians to isolated enclaves.
Pollard May Be eligible for parole but he is hardly the victim his supporters portray
Ever since this convicted spy’s incarceration, there has been a concerted campaign for his release by his American supporters and by the Israeli government.

(WASHINGTON DC) Jonathan Pollard, the U.S.intelligence analyst who spied for Israel and was sentenced to life in prison, could be released as early as November when he becomes eligible for mandatory parole, according to the Justice Department.
Human Rights: illness becomes wellness

- You are invited today (Wednesday July 22) at 2 PM for a talk by Hodgkin the author of “A History of Mathematics From Mesopotamia to Modernity” and retired math professor from King’s College in London. His lecture is titled “Mathematics and justice: what is mathematics doing to us, and what could it do for us?” Earlier, we took a trip with Prof. Hodgkin to Artas because he is the grandchild of Mrs. Crowford (she and Louise Baldensperger were partners in the 1920s/1930s in studying Palestinian plants and folklore in that town)
Human Rights: thinking globally, acting locally
One thing about empires that people have to know: they do not last. They get the hubris to think they can last and that they can manage affairs of other people in perpetuity but this is an illusion.

(BETHLEHEM) The first two paragraphs below are commentary/”thinking globally” followed by suggestions on “acting locally”. So you can skip the next two paragraphs if you like and go directly to actions.
A home denied
“The Zionists wanted Palestine, all of Palestine, preferably with no Palestinians in it.” - Jewish historian, Ilan Pappé, from his book, The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

(LONDON) They came uninvited. The Zionist zealots arrived on our shores with the Bible in one hand and a machine gun in the other. They declared, “this is our land, promised to us by our God and you, the Palestinians, have no place in it.”
Tax-exempt U.S. funds should not be building Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank
As young people ask questions about the meaning of life and seek to discover a meaning and purpose for their own lives, the place once occupied by the church is, more and more, now empty.

(WASHINGTON DC) For nearly half a century, Israel has occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem. During that period more than half a million Israelis have settled in these occupied territories. The U.S. Government, under both Republican and Democratic administrations, views these settlements as illegal. So does the United Nations and International law. U.S. policy has long called for a two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state to be established on the West Bank. Israeli occupation of the land, however, makes the two-state solution unlikely. And Israel’s new government opposes the creation of a Palestinian state, with some members of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government openly calling for annexation. In early June, at the Herzliya Conference, Israel’s premier security meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely declared: “I negate the idea of a two-state solution.”
Adelson’s anti-BDS event links money to action
With U.S. billionaires both funding and setting up its top down strategy with Israeli-inspired organizations on American campuses, Israel’s successful invasion of U.S. institutions takes another major step toward “occupying” American institutions.

(CHICAGO) Stanford University professor David Palumbo-Liu alerted his Salon readers to a “secret” meeting held last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada:
If you did not know that this weekend some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world will meet in the Las Vegas desert to plot a massive and well-financed campaign against the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, it’s not your fault.
Human Rights: Fédération Internationale de Football Association
On the up-side good people keep doing amazingly good work. We had a Bethlehem Rotary gathering to celebrate end of one project in Gaza (maternal and Child health) and start another with help from our Japanese colleagues.

(BETHLEHEM) Life here goes on in all its ups and downs. On the down side we noted with dismay how Mr. Jibril Rjoub decided unilaterally to capitulate to the Israeli government and not pursue them in FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) even though they violate basic human rights including rights of athletes. The capitulation decision was with no democracy, no consulting of people (even our own athletes) and contradicted Rjoub’s own promises in mainstream media. There is an Avaas campaign to gather signatures to “red card” Mr. Rjoub (see https://secure.avaaz.org/ar/red_card_rjoub/?rc=fb&pv=61 ) for taking these unilateral and undemocratic decision . This is one of a series of setbacks that keep proving that the Oslo process was indeed a second Nakba for us. It created a cadre of benefited elites who for the sake of PR must keep speaking as if they are against the occupation but in practice facilitate and entrench the occupation/colonization.
“I’m From that Hell Called Gaza”
The evil of injustice in Gaza is an especially insidious evil because it is largely ignored by those in a position to confront it. It was the injustice in Gaza that brought Carter and Brundtland to Israel and Palestine.

(CHICAGO) Former President Jimmy Carter has concluded his trip to the West Bank area of Palestine. He “deeply regretted” that he was unable to visit the Gaza enclave of Palestine.
President Carter traveled with former Norway Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland. It was their fourth Elders’ mission to Israel and Palestine since 2009.
Gaza Crisis “Unsustainable and Intolerable”
A 90 year old former U.S. president, and his much younger colleague from Norway, have become a crusading international dynamic duo determined to end the immediate Gaza suffering that is both “unsustainable and intolerable”.
Dr. James Wall Global News Centre
(CHICAGO) Former President of the United States Jimmy Carter and Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Prime Minister of Norway, concluded their trip to Israel and Palestine with a statement calling for “meaningful steps to stop the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reconcile the different Palestinian factions”.
The statement, released by the Elders’ media office, said Carter and Brundtland “regretted that they were unable to go to Gaza on this visit but expect to have future opportunities to travel there, to witness the situation firsthand”.
Endgame
Every Israeli leader, from Ben-Gurion to Benjamin Netanyahu, through, Golda Meir, Begin and Sharon had one goal and one target in mind. That target has never changed, it is to expel all Palestinians and replace them with Jewish migrants from around the globe.
Jafar M Ramini Global News Centre
(LONDON) It took the Zionists with all their money, political power and influence around the world over a century to steal Palestine from us, the legal owners. They used every trick and every guile in the book to convince the world that they were the only victims and they deserved all the compassion and support the world could offer them.
Those Zionists, in pursuit of their dream of a Jewish homeland in Palestine, were not bashful or even humane. They went about it with tenacity and they prepared for it well in advance. They financed their project from enthusiastic Jewish donors and by blackmailing and cajoling others.
